MANILA, Philippines – The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers look to move one step closer to their Grand Slam as they battle the still-dangerous Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in Game 3 of their PBA Governors Cup semi-finals series Monday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Mixers took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series after beating TNT, 93-85, last Saturday, despite seeing star guards James Yap and PJ Simon struggle to play through injuries.

But Cone noted that as they have done all year, several other players stepped up including young guns Mark Barroca and Ian Sangalang, while veteran forward Joe Devance played another excellent game.

“We got a lot of help from a lot of people,” said Cone. “That’s been the story of our team this whole year.”

The Mixers are now just one win away from a fourth consecutive Finals appearance, but Cone has warned his team that Talk 'N Text is unlikely to simply hand over the series to them.

“This team is capable of putting up three really good games,” Cone said of the Norman Black-coached Texters. “If any team is capable of coming, (Talk 'N Text) is.”

TNT point guard Jimmy Alapag is not losing hope but acknowledges that they are facing a difficult road.

“We’ve been in this position before, and I have complete trust in the guys in the locker room. But before you get three (wins), you’ve got to get the first one,” Alapag said.

Alapag stressed that they will have no room for error against the Mixers.

“When you’re playing a champion team like San Mig, you just can’t afford to make mistakes or slow starts,” he said. “It’s gonna be important for us on Monday to have a strong start and play a full 48-minute game.”

Game time is at 8 p.m.
