Petron plays Air21; Ginebra battles Barako
MANILA, Philippines – Petron Blaze and Barangay Ginebra will face dangerous foes when they resume basketball action in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday.
The Boosters will take on pressure-free Air21 Express, while the Gin Kings will have to go through the hungry Barako Bull.
Petron coach Ato Agustin refuses to downplay their game against the Express, which is already out the Governors’ Cup race.
“Hindi pwedeng magpabaya. We have to work,” said Agustin in PBA.ph.
The Boosters need to secure a victory for at least a playoff shot for the last semifinal seat.
Game time between Petron and Air21 will be at 7:30 p.m.
Ginebra, meanwhile, also has an important game against Barako Bull.
A victory over the Energy will give the Gin Kings a 5-4 win-loss mark that should include them among the top 6.
"We just have to keep it simple," said Ginebra coach Siot Tanquingcen. "Win and avoid any complication."
But the charges of Barako coach Junel Baculi need the win badly for a chance to make it to the next round.
"This game is a must-win situation. Our fate is in our hands. Execute our gameplan to perfection. Bring our A-game. We haven't had our A-game for a long time now," noted Baculi.
The Energy is currently ranked 8th with a 3-4 win-loss slate.
The Ginebra-Barako game begins at 5:30 p.m.
