Alcantara sees doubles action in Wimbledon
The Philippines’ junior netter Francis Casey Alcantara is set to play his first round Wimbledon doubles match with Nikala Scholtz on Tuesday in London, Great Britain.
Alcantara and Scholtz will play the fourth match at Court 12 of the All-England Lawn Tennis Club against fourth-seeded Americans Evan King and Denis Kudla.
Scholtz, who hails from South Africa, has a current combined (singles and doubles) ranking of 44 as of June 22, 2009.
Alcantara, meantime, is currently at No. 27.
Both players lost their opening round singles matches in three sets at The Junior Championships, Wimbledon.
Alcantara was defeated by Maximilian Neuchrist of Austria, 2-6, 6-4, 3-6, while Scholtz was beaten by Argentine Agustin Velotti, 7-6(5), 4-6, 5-7.
Alcantara has brought home five doubles titles this year won at the Australian Open and in tournaments held in Malaysia, the Philippines, Belgium and Germany.
