MANILA - Winners of the Philippine Open 2007 were not able to defend their titles last year because of the tournament’s calendar break that gave way to the Beijing Olympics season.
Two years after bagging their titles, the RP Open badminton champions are back in the country for the Bingo Bonanza Philippine Open Gold Grand Prix Badminton Championships 2009.

Fans can watch live badminton action from such world-class players at the Philippine Sports Multi-purpose Arena in Pasig City.
According to PhilOpenBadminton.com, Malaysians Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong, the Men’s Doubles champions, and Chinese Chien Yu Chin and Cheng Wen-Hsing, the Women’s Doubles titlists, will play on Thursday.
Other world-class shuttlers entered in the tournament come from the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, Wales, Canada, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Vietnam.
The event, which offers $120,000 as prize money, runs until Sunday, July 5. It is organized by the Philippine Badminton Association and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asian Confederation.
