Milo Marathon continues simultaneous races

MANILA - After a four-month break, the 33rd National Milo Marathon is back with a series of weekly simultaneous runs beginning Sunday, July 5.

Some 40,000 runners are expected to join the races in Manila and Cebu on Sunday.

The race categories are the 42.195-kilometer full marathon, 21K run, 10K run, 5K fun run, and 3K kiddie run.

A one-hour curfew is imposed for the 5K race, one and half hours for the 10K run, and two and half hours for the 21K race. There will be no curfew for the kiddie run.

A curfew of five hours is set for the 42K eliminations. This will be shortened to four and half hours for the 42K Finals.

The 42K winner will take home P75,000 while the 21K champion will receive P10,000. A prize worth P5,000 awaits the 10K best finisher, P2,500 for the 5K champion, and P1,500 for the 3K winner.

This year’s Milo Marathon has a total of 27 races. Runs in Subic and Dipolog were held on February 8. Subsequent races took place in Batangas and Iligan on February 15 and in Palawan and General Santos on February 22.

Aug. 2: Tacloban and San Fernando

Aug. 9: Tagbilaran and Baguio

Aug. 6: Roxas and Dagupan

Aug. 23: Iloilo and Legaspi

Aug. 30: Bacolod and Naga

Sept. 6: Dumaguete and San Pablo

Oct. 11: National Finals in Manila
