Ranidel de Ocampo gets PBA Best Player award
Rain or Shine's Reid pockets 2nd Bobby Parks award
MANILA, Philippines – Talk 'N Text Ranidel de Ocampo pocketed this year's PBA Governors' Cup Best Player of the Conference award, after helping his team reach the semifinal round of the tournament.
De Ocampo garnered a total of 1,084 points by virtue of media and player votes, coupled with his 358 statistical points to edge fellow big man June Mar Fajardo for the best player honor.
He was given the award shortly before Game 2 of the Rainor Shine vs San Mig Coffee finals on Thursday.
“Sobrang saya kasi first Best Player of the Conference award ko ‘to,” De Ocampo said in the PBA website. “Dati naman nagiging candidate din ako, pero 'di nananalo. Kahit paano, iyung mga hirap, tiyaga, nagbunga.”
“Na-appreciate ng tao at ng mga bumoto. Sa mga fans, maraming salamat sa inyo.”
Meanwhile, Rain or Shine’s Arizona Reid earned his second Bobby Parks Best Import award.
Reid led all imports with a total of 1,306 points on 563 statistical points, media and player votes.
He bested last year’s Best Import Marqus Blakely of San Mig Coffee.
