Mavericks owner says Kidd will stay in Dallas
DALLAS, Texas – Jason Kidd has agreed to a three-year National Basketball Association contract worth more than 25 million dollars to stay with the Dallas Mavericks, team owner Mark Cuban said Monday.
The deal will keep the 37-year-old point guard with the Mavericks and could see him finish his NBA career with the same club that he began in the league with back in 1994.
No deals can be completed until Wednesday under league rules even though the NBA free agent negotiation period began last week.
Kidd became a star with the New Jersey Nets, helping the club reach the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, but was traded to the Mavericks 17 months ago in hopes of reinvigorating a team that made the 2006 NBA Finals, but the Mavericks struggled just to reach the NBA playoffs this past season.
