NCAA: Defending champ San Sebastian routs EAC
MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion San Sebastian Stags torched the hapless Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals, 106-66, for their 3rd straight win in the 86th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament on Wednesday.
Calvin Abueva dished out a superb performance for the Stags, registering 23 points, 11 rebounds and 1 assist during their match-up against the Generals at the at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
San Sebastian is now tied with perennial NCAA finalist San Beda Red Lions atop the standings with 3-0 win-loss slates.
The Stags showed the Generals of things to come during the first half with a 48-37 lead.
San Sebastian continued to breach EAC’s defenses in the 3rd canto, 78-53.
Abueva, who took over San Sebastian team leadership since Jimbo Aquino’s graduation from the NCAA, led the Stags' final quarter-blitz as they ran away with their 3rd consecutive victory.
The Generals remain winless in 3 games.
