BOSTON – The Boston Celtics have signed free-agent center/power-forward Rasheed Wallace, the NBA team announced on Wednesday.
"We are ecstatic to be able to add a player the caliber of Rasheed Wallace to our team," said Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge in a statement.
"It is not every day that you can add a four-time All-Star and a player with championship experience," he added.
Wallace spent the past six seasons with Detroit and previously played with Atlanta and the Portland Trailblazers.
The 34-year-old has recorded 14 successive seasons of averaging 10 or more points and has featured in the playoffs in each of the past 13 seasons.
