MANILA - Through the years, ABS-CBN has been covering the premier collegiate league, the University of Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP), on Philippine television.

In season 72, UAAP's popularity is set to soar even higher as the Lopez-owned network aims to bring the league closer to its growing fan base via cyberspace.

The premier collegiate league will have www.uaapsports.com as its web portal address starting this season.

The site will go live on July 11 to coincide with the tip-off of the basketball season. It is the first official UAAP website that covers all sports, not just basketball.

In this age when online games and social networks are commonplace among the youth, ABS-CBN is banking on the website to complement Studio 23’s coverage of the league. The site also serves as a way to interact with the UAAP’s growing audience.

The UAAP member schools will have their own pages on the website featuring their athletes and overall team standings.

Sports writers and editors of the member schools’ publications have been tapped to join the team that will cover all 16 sports in the calendar.

Aside from them, professional writers, video bloggers and television analysts have also been invited to contribute.

The official UAAP website will contain the league's schedules, results, features, photo gallery, video gallery, forums and games.

It will also host live chats and webcasts featuring UAAP players.
