MANILA – The Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings are just one win away from bagging the 2008-09 Motolite-PBA Fiesta Conference crown after seizing a 3-2 lead over the San Miguel Beermen on Monday.

“We like to be up 3-2 but we know what San Miguel is capable of doing,” Ginebra coach Jong Uichico said in a report on PBA.com.ph. “We hope we can play better and be luckier Wednesday.”

Ginebra booked Game 5 with a 106-98 win over San Miguel.

The Gin Kings and Beermen will face in Game Six on July 15 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. The game starts at 7 p.m.

“Game Six will be a hell of a game. For sure, gusto nilang tumabla. Kami naman gusto ng tapusin ang series,” said Uichico.

The PBA online report noted that the Gin Kings’s “biggest motivation is for them to no longer return to practice after Game Six.”

San Miguel coach Siot Tanquingcen, meantime, urged basketball fans and critics not to write off his team just yet.

“I'm still optimistic about it. God gave us the opportunity to be here,” he said. “The eight other teams would kill themselves to be here. No big reason to feel down.”

Tanquingcen disclosed his game plan for Wednesday. “They still need to win a game to get the championship. We just have to get even in Game Six then take it from there.”

Ginebra opened the best-of-seven series with a 102-96 victory. San Miguel bounced back to win Game 2, 95-78. The Gin Kings took Game 3, 116-103, while the Beermen clinched Game 4, 106-104.
