MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo Blue Eagles will appeal the unsportsmanlike foul called on guard Kiefer Ravena in the third quarter of their game against the Adamson Soaring Falcons in the UAAP Season 77 men's basketball tournament on Sunday.

Ravena was assessed an unsportsmanlike foul at the 4:51 mark of the third period while fighting for position for a rebound against Adamson rookie Ivan Villanueva.

"Definitely," Ateneo coach Bo Perasol answered when asked if they plan to appeal the call. "Our team manager is here, Epok Quimpo, and he is going to file that reconsideration, because I don't think that was an unsportsmanlike foul."

"If it's going to be affecting whatever the future will bring Kiefer, that's going to be unfair. So with our team manager, we're definitely going to contest that," he added.

UAAP rules state that a player who has been assessed with two unsportsmanlike fouls will be suspended for one game and automatically disqualified for any awards.

Quimpo later told ABS-CBNnews.com that he will file the appeal with Commissioner Andy Jao, on the basis that Ravena had no intention to hurt Villanueva in the play.

Ravena himself stressed that he "didn't do anything" wrong in the play.

"Normal, physical game. It's basketball," said Ravena, who scored 22 points and had two highlight reel dunks in the first half. "He gave me a bump, I gave him a bump. Mas masakit lang 'yung bump niya sa akin, kasi malaki siya eh."

"Pero I didn't do anything intentional to hurt the guy. I didn't even think he felt anything. I didn't do anything. I'm a good boy," he added.

Ateneo went on to win the game, 79-57.
