MANILA -- Defending champions Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws crushed the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses, 68-43, during Wednesday’s main game in the 72nd University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Women’s Basketball at the FEU Gym.

Shrugging off a slow start in the first canto, FEU dominated UST in the next three quarters to open its title defense with a resounding victory.

After a tight opening period which saw the Lady Tams hanging onto a one-point lead, 18-17, starters Raiza Palmera and Allana Lim waxed hot to keep the Tigresses at bay.

Agatha Astrero then came off the bench and led a third quarter run to widen the scoring gap.

Astrero capitalized on UST’s weak perimeter defense as she scattered four triples en route to a team-high 18 markers.
