Quezon City councilors filed a resolution congratulating Dennis Orcollo for winning the tough Qatar World 9-Ball Open last week in Doha, Qatar.

According to a report posted on BilliardPhilippines.com, Quezon City Majority Floor Leader and 4th district councilor Ariel Inton spearheaded the resolution.

"It only proves that the Philippines is still the powerhouse when it comes to prestigious billiards competitions here and abroad," Inton said.

" He made not only Quezon City proud, but the whole country after winning the tough Qatar World 9-Ball Open," added Inton.

Along with the QC government, Inton hosted last year's Orcollo-Yang one-on-one showdown.

Orcollo defeated European ace Niels "The Terminator" Feijen, 13-5, to grab the title and the top $40,000 purse in the just-concluded Qatar World 9-Ball Open.

The Quezon City-based Orcollo was also given a special merit of citation during the 2007 QC Gawad Parangal awards night as one of the city's nine outstanding citizens, which highlighted the 68th founding anniversary of the city.
