Hospitalized Hatton thanks well-wishers
MANILA – British boxing superstar Ricky “the Hitman” Hatton is reportedly in stable condition after being taken to the hospital last week due to vomiting, chest pains and stomach cramps.
According to ManchesterEveningNews.co.uk, Hatton suffered from a “gastric problem that has left him in agony with stomach cramps and a high temperature.”
Hatton’s fiancée, Jennifer, brought him to Tameside Hospital in Greater Manchester where he received treatment.
“It's definitely not swine flu, but his fiancée Jennifer did think it was when she rushed him to hospital earlier in the week,” said the fighter’s father, Ray Hatton.
Hatton has been transferred to the private Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, Cheshire where he could stay for a few more days.
“We have had literally hundreds of texts and cards which are being boxed up so he can have a look when he's better,” Hatton’s father revealed.
“The Hitman,” for his part, said, “Through the Manchester Evening News I want to thank all those people who have sent me and my family goodwill texts and cards.”
“They have done a lot to lift my spirits. I am humbled that so many people are concerned,” added the 30-year-old boxer whose fate as a fighter is unknown following his second round knockout loss to pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao on May 2.
