Beermen to focus on rebounding
MANILA – San Miguel Beermen coach Siot Tanquincen revealed that his championship team will resume practice in a month’s time.
“Mawawala ‘yong import namin, kailangang punuan iyong maiiwan ng import namin,” Tanquingcen told ABS-CBN News. “Yong rebounding namin, iyon ang kailangan naming punuan.”
For the meantime, the Beermen are taking a break after edging out the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in Game 7 of the 2008-09 Motolite-Fiesta Conference finals.
“Gusto kong pasalamatan iyong mga fans ng San Miguel for coming out,” the Beermen coach said.
Tanquingcen was the former coach of finals opponent, Ginebra. “Kasama sa trabaho iyon eh. Ang pagkakaibigan namin sa mga dating players ko, hindi nawawala ang respeto ko sa kanila.”
“Afterwards, magkaibigan na kami,” he said of his relationship with the Gin Kings.
The Beermen recently held their victory party at the San Miguel Office-Upper Mall on Friday. They turned over their trophy to the San Miguel management.
The finals victory was the 18th championship crown of the San Miguel Beer franchise. Meanwhile, it was Tanquingcen’s first championship title.
San Miguel supporters also had a chance to celebrate with the team. There was even an autograph session for the fans.
