Donaire ready to go the distance vs Concepcion
MANILA -- Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is not pulling any stops on enhancing his conditioning in preparation for his fight against Panamanian boxer Rafael Concepcion on August 15.
Donaire told SportsNews.ph that he has no plans to lose steam while fighting it out with Concepcion for the interim World Boxing Association super flyweight title.
“Ang focus ko talaga is in shape ako 100 percent. So even 12 rounds, 15 rounds, 20 rounds makakaya ko,” said Donaire.
The Flash said he is expecting a tough fight against the Panamanian who gave Filipino bantamweight AJ Banal his first taste of defeat. Donaire said he thinks his upcoming fight could go the distance.
“Yesterday naka-sparring ako ng 12 rounds. Hindi naman ako napagod, marami pa akong energy so, 100 percent ako ngayon. I feel really good, I’m in good shape,” he said.
In fighting Concepcion, Donaire is jumping up the super flyweight division after having a successful campaign as a flyweight champion.
In his last fight, the former International Boxing Federation champion demolished Raul Martinez at the Araneta Coliseum.
