Beijing Olympics brought to you by Summit

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has been granted a visa to China in record-time as he prepares to become the flag-bearer for the Philippine delegation to the Beijing Olympics during the opening ceremonies on August 8.

"Ang bilis nga, kahapon lang ibinigay [ang requirements] tapos kanina ibinigay na," Joey Romasanta, spokesman of the Philippine Olympic Committee, told abs-cbnNEWS.com in a telephone interview.

Romasanta explained that the WBC lightweight champ was given a regular tourist visa for China. Once Pacquiao steps into Chinese soil, the POC spokesman said that a special desk will be available at the airport to process the requirments for the boxing icon's accreditation as official delegate.

President Arroyo named Pacquiao as the bearer of the country's colors to the two-week Games after defeating former WBC lightweight king David Diaz last month. He replaced swimmer Miguel Molina who was initially appointed as flag-bearer.
