Luat takes Villar Cup in Iloilo
MANILA – Rodolfo “Boy Samson” Luat bagged the Iloilo leg of the Manny Villar Cup after beating Elmer Haya, 11-9, in the final.
“Winning a tournament against the different top best players is a very big accomplishment,” Luat told Mymy Alagaban of BilliardPhilippines.com.
“I’m very happy winning this game,” added Luat, who took home the top prize worth P300,000.
Luat, the 1996 World Open 9-ball champion, also ruled the Manny Villar Cup Bacolod leg.
Haya, meantime, won P120,000.00 as the runner-up. Second runner-up Warren Kiamco and third runner-up Lee Van Corteza got P40,000.00 each.
The Villar Cup series was sanctioned by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines. The event was presented by “Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports.”
