Caluag suffers spill in Olympics BMX race
But Pinoy rider finishes 5th in first run
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino cyclist Danny Caluag brushed off a spill in London Olympics’ BMX competition to nab 5th place in the first run in heat 3 on Thursday.
Caluag, who started at Gate 8, tumbled down at the BMX track along with 6 other riders during the first run of their group.
Only New Zealand’s Marc Willers escaped the spill, enabling him to finish first.
Four other riders followed, including Caluag.
There will be four more runs for each heat before the final result could be determined.
