MANILA, Philippines – The World Boxing Council super bantamweight diamond belt has been added to the titles at stake in the Nonito Donaire Jr.-Toshiaki Nishioka bout in October.

According to Boxing Scene, the WBC has decided to sanction the bout scheduled on October 13 at the Home Depot in Carson, California.

This brought the total number of crowns to be fought for to 4.

Donaire will be defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles against Nishioka.

The RING Magazine super bantamweight belt is also on the table in the fight.

Top Rank’s Bob Arum earlier said Donaire will have his toughest fight against the battle-hardened Nishioka.

“Donaire's probably fighting the toughest fight of his career against long time Japanese champion Toshiaki Nishioka, who is a wonderful fighter,” the boxing promoter told ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.

Nishioka, who was the World Boxing Council (WBC) super bantamweight champion, has fought the likes of Rafael Marquez, Jhonny Gonzales and Mauricio Javier Muñoz.

“I think he hasn't lost a fight in 7 years,” Arum said of the Japanese boxer.

“Donaire has to be in shape or it would be a long night for him.”
