MANILA -- Following Nonito Donaire, Jr.’s unanimous decision over Panama’s Rafael Concepcion, the camp of WBA and WBC super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan has reportedly started working out their fighter’s possible rematch with the “Filipino Flash”.

“We are looking for a rematch with Donaire and then (world bantamweight champion) Joseph Agbeko next. Those are the fights Vic wants to get,” said Darchinyan’s Australian manager Elias Nasser in a report posted on SportsNews.ph.

Donaire, who won the WBA interim super flyweight title during his square-off with Concepcion in “Pinoy Power 2”, is the lone fighter who defeated the “Raging Bull” in Darchinyan.

“It’s a fight that people wants to see. It’s what Vic really wants. He wants to get revenge even though we feel we have gotten over that loss with Vic’s achievement in the super flyweight division,” said Nasser.

Donaire used to hold the world flyweight title he wrested from Darchinyan through a picture perfect 5th round TKO win over the Australia-based Armenian two years ago.

The Filipino Flash is currently eyeing matches against Mexican superstars Jorge Arce and interim WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel.

More Concepcion ‘tricks’ exposed

Donaire’s trainer Dodie Boy Peñalosa, meanwhile, exposed reported efforts by Concepcion’s camp to cheat his ward during last Saturday’s clash.

Penalosa told SportsNews.ph that Concepcion’s supposed cheating did not end after he weighed 4 ½ pounds over the super flyweight limit of 115lbs.

He said Concepcion reportedly refused to wear a pair of 10-once gloves mandated for fighters who failed to make weight. The Panamanian’s camp reportedly threatened to pull out from the fight if their boxer is not allowed to use 8-ounce gloves. Donaire reluctantly agreed.

“Noong una sinabi ko kay Nonito masyado nang advantage yung kalaban pero talagang gusto niya ituloy yung laban,” said Penalosa. “Sabi niya pinaghandaan natin ito ng matagal. Pero naisip ko din kondisyon talaga si Nonito kaya talagang pinaalala ko lang sa kaniya na huwag na siya masyado makipag-sabayan.”

The Filipino trainer later learned that Concepcion reportedly donned a pair of Everlast boxing gloves with thinner padding on the knuckles. The gear allegedly gave undue advantage to the Panamanian, enabling him to throw the more harmful punches.

Donaire, however, chose to engage Concepcion to a tactical fight, hammering a unanimous decision despite the Panamanian’s advantages.
