Tamaraws look to bounce back vs Archers
MANILA – The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws look to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they take on the De La Salle Green Archers in the second round of the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball tournament Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Tamaraws bowed to the National University Bulldogs, 58-59, in their first game of the second round last Wednesday.
They escaped with a win over La Salle in overtime during their first round encounter, but the Archers will have the momentum today after beating the Adamson Falcons last Wednesday.
“Ang sabi ko sa kanila, from this point on, every game will be hard,” FEU Coach Nash Racela said. “Especially with us, coming off a loss, and La Salle coming off a win. They want to win every game to make it to the Final Four.”
“We will do our part. Ang importante lang is our preparation for La Salle. For sure, it’s gonna be a close game,” he added.
The FEU-DLSU clash tips off at 4:00 pm.
In the 2:00 pm game, the NU Bulldogs will try to extend the woes of the Adamson Falcons.
Adamson fell apart in crunch time against La Salle, falling in overtime after making repeated rallies in regulation.
“We lost to Adamson in the first round,” said NU Coach Eric Altamirano. “We really have to prepare very well for Sunday.”
Altamirano hopes to once again get strong performances from his reserves, especially Maurice Porter, who limited FEU’s Terrence Romeo in their match-up last Wednesday and may be asked to defend Adamson’s Jericho Cruz today.
