MANILA, Philippines – Former world champion Florante “The Little Pacquiao” Condes is set to make his boxing comeback when he takes on an Indonesian toughie in “Philippines vs. The World” on August 28 in Cebu.

Condes, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion, will face Pan Asia Boxing Association interim champion Sofyan Effendi. The match will take place at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.

The hard punching Filipino has not fought since his unanimous decision loss to South African Nkosinathi Joyi in June 2009.

That fight was a title eliminator for the IBF title, which he lost to Mexican Raul Garcia in June 2008.

Condes, who has already compiled 23 wins out of 29 fights, hopes that he will be back on the winning track starting with his fight against Effendi, who has 8 knockouts in 10 wins.

Philippines vs. The World will be headlined by Resurgent Filipino featherweight Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, who will be up against Marco Antonio Barrera’s cousin, Alejandro Barrera.

Also in the undercard are Milan “Milenyo” Melindo and Jimrex “The Executioner” Jaca.

The undefeated Melindo will face South Korean flyweight champ Jin-Man Jeon.

Jaca will fight Mexican Pipino Cuevas, Jr., the son of the legendary World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Pipino Cuevas. – With a report from Philboxing.com
