Fil-Am boxer Ana Julaton lost via split decision to New York-based Dominican Dominga Olivo during their clash for the WBC Women’s International Super bantamweight title Thursday (Friday in Manila) at the Tachi Casino Hotel and Resort in California.

A report posted on PhilBoxing.com said one judge scored it 77-75 for Julaton, the other 77-75 for Olivo. Third judge, however, gave it to Olivio, 79-73.

It was a tough fight for Julaton (4-1-1) as she faced a much more experienced Olivo who is a veteran of 12 fights (7-4-1).

Ed de la Vega of PhilBoxing said the title bout showed that Julaton is ready for big league fights. "Ana may have only six professional fights but she showed tonight she indeed was ready for the big time. Unfortunately, she came up on the short end of the stick," he said.
