MANILA, Philippines – Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, Jimrex Jaca and Milan Melindo are expected to put on exciting fights when they see action in “Philippines vs. The World” in Cebu City on Saturday.

“It will be star-studded,” ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer told John Pages of Sun.Star Cebu.

“It’s hard to say which fight may steal the show but, for one, Boom-Boom’s fights are always exciting. The fans know that anytime, Boom-Boom can knock out his opponent—or that he himself could be knocked out,” he added.

Bautista will exchange blows with Alejandro “Zorrito” Barrera, the cousin of Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera.

“Boom Boom” is a former World Boxing Organizational (WBO) Inter-Continental super bantamweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) International featherweight king while “Zorrito” is a former North American Boxing Association (NABA) super bantamweight and WBC Continental Americas featherweight champion.

Aldeguer also talked commented about the fights of Jaca vs Pipino Cuevas, Jr. and Melindo vs South Korean Jin-Man Jeon.

“This will be exciting because Koreans come to fight just like Big Yoo (AJ Banal’s last opponent). Milan loves to brawl,” said Aldeguer.

“Jimrex is against Pipino Cuevas Jr., the son of the legend who fought Tommy Hearns,” he added.

Moreover, the ALA Promotions president talked about the comeback of Florante Condes, who will be facing Indonesian Sofyan Effendi.

“The fans will be excited to watch Florante Condes in his comeback fight under ALA Promotions. He is a former world champion and one of the biggest punchers in boxing. He has the power like Manny Pacquaio,” said Aldeguer.

According to The Philippine Star, other matches on Saturday feature Marlon Alta of General Santos City vs Japanese Naozumi Tsuchiyama; Jen Entor of Mabinay, Negros Oriental vs Jaime Alin, Jr. of Valencia, Bukidnon; Wilbeth Loberanis of Mandaue City vs Romulo Ramayan of Valencia, Bukidnon; and Pedro Balaba of Tagbilaran City vs Kotsky Ebalang of Cagayan de Oro City.

“Philippines vs. The World” will be held at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City. – With reports from Sun.Star Cebu and The Philippine Star
