Altas remain unbeaten in Fr. Martin Cup
MANILA, Philippines – The University of Perpetual Help Altas struck hard with their run-and-gun game in the third period as they waylaid the Letran Knights, 67-55, in the 11th Fr Martin Division 2 Cup Saturday at the Arellano University gym.
Six-foot-seven big man Akhuetie Bright dominated the game with 20 points as the Altas went on to win their fourth consecutive game in Group B.
Bright and Crispin Elopre, who had 18 points, made their moves in the start of the second half, with Bright scoring 11 points and Elopre hitting eight of his own in the third.
Their efforts allowed the Altas to turn the tables around, and overcome an 18-25 halftime deficit to take a 45-37 edge at the end of the third quarter.
In the juniors division, the San Beda Red Cubs walloped St. Jude, 71-63, to share the lead in Group B.
In another game, the Xavier School Stallions won back-to-back games for the first time in the tournament after beating the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 68-51, with Jarrel Lim scoring 18 points.
Lim was also at the forefront of Xavier’s first win, an 83-75 victory over St. Joseph Bulacan.
