Like Taulava, Menk open to PBA return
MANILA, Philippines – Former Ginebra star Eric Menk will consider returning to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) if he gets a call from his former team.
The 39-year-old is currently signed with the San Miguel Beermen in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) together with former Meralco player Asi Taulava. The two played in tandem to lead the Beermen to their first title finish in the ABL.
“If I ever I get a call-up from Ginebra? I’ll pick up the phone and listen,” Menk told Spin.ph’s Richard Dy.
Barangay Ginebra coach Ato Agustin said he considers bringing back Menk to bolster the Gin Kings’ lineup following the retirement of Rudy Hatfield.
“But no, I haven’t heard of it,” stressed Menk.
However, the 2004-05 PBA Most Valuable Player he’d retire happy even if he fails to return to the PBA.
“I’m enjoying it (time out of basketball). I haven’t touched the ball since June 12 (the day after San Miguel won the ABL title). We won 25 of 29 games in the ABL. It can’t get any better than that,” said Menk.
