MANILA - Filipino-American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Brandon Vera and Mark Muñoz scored victories in UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon.

Vera and Muñoz both went the distance in the Octagon as they posted wins by unanimous decision and split decision, respectively.

Vera, known as “The Truth,” outlasted Krzysztof “The Polish Experiment” Soszynski in three rounds.

The unanimous decision win over Soszynski is Vera’s second consecutive victory in the Octagon. He defeated Michael Patt by technical knockout last March in UFC 96: Jackson vs Jardine.

Vera improves to 11-3 while Soszynski’s record falls to 19-10-1.
    
In an earlier fight, Muñoz overcame Nick Catone in three rounds via split decision.

The win gives “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” a 6-1 record while Catone now stands at 7-2.

Muñoz suffered his first loss when Matt Hamill beat him by knockout in UFC 96 .
