'Mayweather obviously got issues'

MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. has serious problems that need to be addressed as shown by his public spat with his father, said boxing analyst Doug Fischer.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his father, Floyd Sr., figured in a bitter quarrel as shown in the first episode of HBO's 24/7: Mayweather-Ortiz.

"If Mayweather can't help unraveling like that around his father in front his entourage and HBO's cameras I feel bad for him. He's obviously got issues," said Fischer, co-editor of RingTV.com.

The incident took place while the younger Mayweather was preparing for his September 17 fight against Victor Ortiz.

"I did not enjoy watching that emotional meltdown with his father at all. It was just sad and uncomfortable. I can't blame his crew of yes men for just staring at him with their mouths closed," said Fischer.

The HBO footage showed father and son exchanging bitter words.

Floyd Jr. continued his expletive-laden rant even as his father was ushered outside the boxing gym.

Fischer, however, admitted that the incident may be part of efforts to boost the hype for the Ortiz fight.

"The question in my mind while watching that sad display was 'is he (Floyd Jr.) playing this up for the cameras?,'" said Fischer.

"If he did all of that for the cameras or to show out in front of his crew, he's way sicker than I thought and I don’t feel sorry for him."
