RoS ends slump, blasts Air21
MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Rain or Shine recovered from back-to-back losses, giving Air21 a 109-95 beating on Saturday in the PBA Governors' Cup.
With his ankle sprain gone, Paul Lee suited up for the Elasto Painters and tallied 19 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
"Pursigido talaga kami manalo ngayon tapos talagang pinahirapan namin yung import ng kabila. ‘Yun tingin ko mga key kaya kami nanalo ngayon,” said Lee in the PBA website.
Rain or Shine import Arizona Reid also churned in huge numbers, coming up with his conference best of 39 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Elasto Painters’ defense paid off as they shackled Air21 import Zach Graham to just 18 points.
“This is a big game for us, coming back from two bad losses. We stopped the bleeding. This was important because losing would have meant trying to survive this conference,” said Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao.
Prior to the Air21 game, Rain or Shine suffered two straight losses to Petron Blaze and Alaska.
The Elasto Painters improved their record to 3-2, while the Express fell to 1-4.
Nino Canaleta had 25 points for Air21, while Mike Cortez added 21.
