MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is worried that Filipino athletes might feel the backlash of the Manila hostage-taking incident during the Asian Games (Asiad) in Guanngzhou, China in November.
PSC Chairman Richie Garcia admitted that they are closely monitoring the situation.
He added that they will try to book flights directly to Guangzhou to avoid a situation where the athletes will have to take a connecting flight through Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is demanding justice for the 8 Hong Kong tourists who died in the August 23 hostage incident.
A total of 160 Filipinos will take part in the Asian Games from November 12 to 27. – Report from ANC
