Ginebra, Air21 try to end skids
MANILA – The Barangay Ginebra Kings and the Air21 Express will try to end their losing streaks when they take on each other in the PBA Governors Cup Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Air21 has lost three consecutive games and now sit at 1-4, while Ginebra has lost back-to-back games and tote a 1-3 record.
Both teams are determined to come out on top in what will be a vital clash at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
“We have to get back on track, or we will fall way behind the leaders,” Ginebra coach Ato Agustin said. “At delikado kami na ma-out.”
“We have to find a way to win. Nakabaon na kami,” said Air21 coach Franz Pumaren.
Ginebra is dealing with injuries to their frontline, as Japeth Aguilar and Kerby Raymundo are both out of action. Reports say that the crowd favorites are thinking of reactivating free agent Eric Menk in an effort to shore up their frontline.
Air21, meanwhile, is looking for trades to beef up their roster. Their lone win of the conference came at the expense of San Mig Coffee, 93-82, but lost all of their other games by an average margin of 11.5 points.
