MANILA – The University of the East (UE) Warriors stretched its winning run to five as it cruised to a 70-58 win over National University (NU) Bulldogs on Saturday in the 72nd UAAP men’s basketball at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

It took only the Warriors one quarter to size up NU before methodically wearing down the Bulldogs in the remaining quarters.

Star playmaker Paul Lee scored six of his game-high 17 points in the second period to help the Warriors mark their ninth win in 13 games.

“Paul (Lee) is making up for lost time. He struggled in our losses,” said UE rookie coach Lawrence Chongson.

Lee added six rebounds and three assists to his offensive outburst as he stepped up for Pari Llagas’ lackluster performance.

Llagas, who was averaging a team-high 16.0 points entering this game, managed to only score four points in an atrocious 1-of-10 shooting from the field.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, dropped to their sixth straight loss despite getting 12 markers each from Jewel Ponferrada and Joseph Hermosisima. By Alder T. Almo
