Bata, Django barge into World Cup of Pool final
Alcano, Orcollo entered in semis
MANILA – Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante of Philippines B booked their place in the PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool final after edging out China, 9-8, on Sunday.
Reyes and Bustamante, the 2006 World Cup of Pool champions, prevailed in the tight race-to-9 match against Chinese Li Hewen and Fu Jianbo.
“China can only hope they get another chance. Every successful shot from the hosts is loudly cheered,” reported MatchroomSport.com.
The Bata-Django pair will face Germany or Philippines A in the final.
Ronnie Alcano and Dennis Orcollo, who comprise Philippines A, made it to the semifinals by defeating Radoslaw Babica and Mateusz Sniegocki of Poland, 9-5, on Saturday.
Germans Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann, meantime, overcame Holland, 9-7, to set up a clash against Alcano and Orcollo.
Defending champions Shane Van Boening and Rodney Morris of the United States, meanwhile, failed to make it to the last four as they were beaten by China in the quarterfinal.
The PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool is being held at the SM North EDSA in Quezon City.
