WATCH: Injured Sumang exits UE-Ateneo game
MANILA, Philippines -- University of the East (UE) guard Roi Sumang tied his career-high with 27 points against Ateneo, but he did not get the chance to finish the game after crashing to the court with a little over a minute to go in the crucial contest.
Sumang went down hard after missing a lay-up, and the Red Warriors played four-on-five on the other end, leading to a Kiefer Ravena basket. Sumang was eventually helped back to the bench by his teammates Lord Casajeros and Adrian Santos.
The Red Warriors went on to lose, 72-77, after leading by 10, 44-34, at halftime. Sumang left the Mall of Asia Arena on a stretcher, with his right knee in a leg splint. He is set to undergo an MRI, according to UE head coach Boycie Zamar.
