Yang leads Orcollo in Face Off series
MANILA – Yang Ching-shun, dubbed the “Son of Pool” of Chinese Taipei, edged the Philippines' Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo in the first day of the “Face Off Series 2 - One More Time” event held in Manila on Tuesday.
Yang led Orcollo, 25-19, in the race-to-50 10-ball match, according to ClubCapo.tv.
The cue artists will resume their match on Wednesday at the Club Capo Exclusive along Tomas Morato Ave., Quezon City. The two-day event’s winner will take home $10,000.
Orcollo and Yang first faced off in 2007 at the race-to-60 Money Game King showdown where the “Son of Pool” dominated the “Robocop,” 60-42. The event was held at the Gateway Mall in Cubao, Quezon City.
After their showdown, Orcollo and Yang went on to reap success in various tournaments, BilliardPhilippines.com reported.
Orcollo won the 2008 Qatar World Open 9-Ball Championship and 2009 International 10-Ball Championship. He made it to the semifinals of the recently-concluded PartyCasino.net World Cup of Pool with partner Ronnie Alcano.
Yang, on the other hand, bagged the overall championship of the 2008 Guinness 9-Ball Tour.
