Belfort wants to go the distance vs 'Hendo'
MANILA, Philippines – Vitor Belfort is preparing to fight fellow UFC legend Dan Henderson for five full rounds when they meet in UFC Fight Night on November 9.
The bout will serve as a rematch for both fighters who first met in a 2006 PRIDE bout that Henderson won by unanimous decision.
"It’s a rematch, so it won’t taste differently," Belfort said in MMA Fighting. "It gives me more motivation. He’s a tough fighter, but I’ll be ready to dominate him for five rounds."
Belfort said he’s motivated to beat Henderson this time but admitted that it won’t be easy.
"It’s going to be intense. I have 14 weeks until the fight, and preparation requires dedication and sacrifice. I’ll focus on winning the fight. I’m preparing myself for a five-round intense fight. That’s the way I predict the fight going," he said.
For his part, Henderson said he looks forward to fighting Belfort again.
Although Belfort remains essentially a striker, Henderson believes the Brazilian MMA fighter has already evolved.
“Vitor’s been around a long time. He’s very dangerous and he’s very quick,” he said in MMA Weekly.
“Seems like he’s got some kicks now, so I guess that’s different than before. I’m excited to go out and fight him.”
