50 Cent hints at friction with Mayweather
MANILA, Philippines – Although unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson are known to be close friends, the rapper-turned-promoter hinted that there is friction between the two.
In an interview on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, 50 Cent discussed the rumors that there were issues between him and Mayweather.
“Me and Floyd are always gonna be cool,” 50 Cent said, but then hinted that he and the boxer may be having some differences.
“With Floyd, everybody around him is waiting on the next time he feels generous. And I have a lot, so I don’t wait for nobody,” he said. “It’s just space and time.”
“I’ll go and do what I have to do. I don’t gotta sit around and wait for the next time he feels like giving somebody something,” 50 Cent added.
50 Cent vehemently denied the rumors that he had “messed around” with Mayweather’s girlfriend, however.
“No, no, I wouldn’t do that to him, I wouldn’t do that with anybody,” he said.
50 Cent recently started a promotional company, named The Money Team (TMT) Promotions, which he said he will run with Mayweather.
The rapper has applied for a license to promote fights in Nevada and has already signed fighters like Yuriorkis Gamboa, Andre Dirrell and Billy Dibb.
It was also widely reported that Mayweather will end his long relationship with Golden Boy Promotions and have his future fights promoted by TMT.
