Asi excited over PBA comeback
MANILA – Fil-Tongan player Asi Taulava is excited to make his way back to the PBA after being out of the league for a year.
Air21 gained Taulava’s rights from Meralco in a trade that sent Mike Cortez to the Bolts.
“I am so excited. I can’t wait to step on the floors of the PBA again. If only I can pull time,” Taulava said in Snow Badua’s PBA.ph report.
Prior to the trade, the 40-year-old center played for the San Miguel Beermen in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
Taulava left the PBA in September 2013 after failing to reach an agreement with Meralco regarding his contract extension.
However, after leading the Beermen to an ABL title finish last June, he voiced out his wish to play in the PBA again.
He wanted to suit up for Barangay Ginebra, but later agreed to play for Air21.
“I love the PBA. I have so much memories playing here. So it will be like a homecoming for me,” said Taulava.
Taulava is expected to play against Talk 'N Text on Friday.
