MANILA, Philippines – Brazilian mixed martial artist Vitor Belfort is a massive underdog against going into his light-heavyweight clash against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Jon "Bones" Jones, but there is at least one man who believes he can pull off the upset.

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion "Suga" Rashad Evans told MMA Mania that Belfort has "more than a chance" of beating Jones.

"Yes, he has more than a chance. I truly believe it," Evans said. "Vitor has some of the best hands, the fastest hands. He is very fast and he's very explosive."

"So I think Vitor makes it a fight. He goes in there and he makes it a fight," he added.

Evans, who lost to Jones at UFC 145, will serve as one of Belfort's trainers for the Brazilian's UFC 152 title bout.

"I'm glad Vitor made me part of his journey to become champion," Evans said.

"Suga" is expected to play a vital role in Belfort’s corner, as he was a former sparring partner of Jones and spent 25 minutes in the cage against the champion.

But Evans acknowledged that there is a chance of him facing off against Belfort in the future if the Brazilian succeeds in winning the light-heavyweight title.

"I'm not worried about that. My main focus is for Vitor, that's it. Everything else, it doesn’t even matter right now. I'll cross whatever bridges I need to cross when I have to cross them," Evans said.

"As far as if Vitor becomes light-heavyweight champion, that’s great, that’s what I would want," he added.

Evans said he will continue to fight and hopes to be part of the title picture in either the middleweight division or the light-heavyweight division.

"I'm still pursuing the championship in any way I can. Any shape, form or fashion. For me, helping (Vitor) train is not so much about me," he said. "I want to help him become champion."
