Lady Tams rout UE to remain unbeaten
MANILA, Philippines – The Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws routed the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 74-54, to remain undefeated in the UAAP Season 75 women’s basketball tournament.
The Lady Tams are now at 12-0 and are two games away from a sweep of the elimination round.
Allana Lim continued her stellar season, scoring 18 points on top of eight rebounds when the Lady Tams battled the Lady Warriors Wednesday at the San Juan Arena.
Karen Columna (12 points) and Marilourd Borja (10 points) also finished in double-figures for FEU.
Cyril Zamora fired 17 points for UE and Eliezza Ventura and Maria Cecilia Junsay each scored 16, but the Lady Warriors shot a measly 29% from the field.
The Lady Tamaraws made 43% of their shots from the field and took advantage of UE’s 35 turnovers to tally 31 turnover points.
Meanwhile, the De La Salle Lady Archers solidified their hold on the second spot of the league standings with a 63-55 victory over the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses.
The National University Lady Bulldogs remained in the hunt for a Final Four berth, defeating the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons 66-56.
Carmina Laquindanum tallied a double-double (15 points, 13 rebounds) for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to a 7-5 record to make it to fourth place in the league standings.
The Adamson Lady Falcons relegated the Ateneo Lady Eagles to fifth place in the league standings with a 71-57 victory in the last game of the day.
Snow Peneranda and Angela Ortega each scored 17 points as the Lady Falcons survived Sarah Mercado’s 20-point, 11-rebound effort.
