MANILA, Philippines – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White will sit down with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to straighten out the misunderstanding caused by the cancellation of UFC 151.

White and Jones have been playing the blame game over the termination of the September 1 fight card.

The UFC president wants to end the issue on September 22, when Jones faces Vitor Belfort.

“Now at this point, Jon Jones and I will sit down in a room, face to face, man to man and clear this thing out… I don't wanna fight Jones, but we gotta work this thing out,” said White in ESPN’s Sports Center.

UFC was forced to shelve UFC 151 after Jones refused to face Chael Sonnen on 8 days’ notice.

UFC offered Sonnen as a replacement for Dan Henderson, who suffered a knee injury while training.

“Chael Sonnen steps up, he accepts the fight, and when I first talked to Jon Jones, Jon Jones was excited about this fight,” said White.

But Jones backtracked from fighting Sonnen upon the advice of his head trainer Greg Jackson.

“Greg Jackson, one of his trainers, made the craziest statement ever that this would be the biggest mistake of [Jones’] entire career, fighting a guy on 8 days' notice when Jones just had a full camp,” said White.
