La Salle faces UST in Final 4 seeding
MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University (DLSU) will battle University of Sto. Tomas (UST) on Saturday to decide the Final Four picture of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament.
Although already assured of the top three seeding in the Final Four, La Salle's game against UST could decide who their Final Four opponent will be.
If the Green Archers (9-4) beat the Tigers (7-5), then there will be a three-way tie among La Salle, National University (10-4) and Far Eastern University (10-4).
NU will get the top seeding by virtue of a superior quotient, forcing FEU to a playoff against La Salle for the Top 2 seeding. After the playoff, La Salle and FEU will dispute a finals seat.
If the Tigers defeat the Archers, FEU will get the superior quotient and top placing. This will force the Bulldogs to use their twice-to-beat against La Salle.
A win by UST will improve its record to 8-5, thereby improving its chances of entering the Final Four.
UST will then face Ateneo (7-6) to decide who takes the last spot in the Final Four.
Game time between the Archers and the Tigers is at 4 p.m. at the MOA Arena.
Meanwhile, University of the East (UE) and host team Adamson University (AdU) will try to end their respective Season 76 campaigns on a positive note during the 2 p.m. curtain raiser.
UE, which is reeling from a four-game slump, tries to recover from its controversial 72-77 defeat to Ateneo last Sunday.
Adamson, on the other hand, recently got an 80-92 beating from FEU.
