The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) has dismissed talk that the WPA-sanctioned World Ten Ball Championship in Manila from September 29-October 5 has been postponed.

"At no time have we considered this event to ever have been in danger of being postponed or canceled," the WPA said in a statement on the official WTBC Web site (www.worldtenball.com).

The WPA said that preparations and arrangements for the tournament by main organizer Raya Sports "are proceeding as planned" at the Philippine International Convention Center.

The tournament, which has so far listed the participation of 106 players from around the world, offers a prize fund of $400,000.

"There may be an additional prize donated by sponsors that will be announced by next week," the group added.

It also said that the tournament will be conducted under the full supervision of the WPA.

Thomas Overbeck, WPA vice-president and sports director, will be the WTBC tournament chief.
