MANILA – Who will win the ring wars?

Two of the country’s prized fighters, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and mixed martial artist Brandon Vera, are slated to clash for ticket sales and viewership when their events both take place on Nov. 14.

Pacquiao headlines the “Firepower” bout with Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada while Filipino-American Vera, is featured in the main event alongside Randy Couture in UFC 105 at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England.

The UFC 105 line-up was finalized recently, with the fights of Michael Bisping vs Dennis Kang and Dan Hardy vs Dong Hyun Kim included in the event.

Rick Rockwell of Examiner.com reported that BJ Penn was supposed to headline UFC 105. Penn, however, is slated to fight on December 12 in UFC 107.

Anderson Silva, considered as the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter, was also reported to be part of UFC 105. But reports noted that Silva wanted to take time off. Moreover, he might need to undergo elbow surgery.

Meanwhile, another Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event is set to be held on the same day as the comeback fight of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. against Juan Manuel Marquez.

The Mayweather vs Marquez: “Number One / Numero Uno” will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sept. 19.

UFC 103, which features the bout between Richard Franklin and Vitor Belfort, will also be held on Sept. 19 at the American Airlines Center in Texas.

UFC President Dana White told Fanhouse.com that UFC 103 will not give way to the Mayweather-Marquez fight.
