Massa grateful for stint with Ferrari
MANILA – Formula One racer Felipe Massa said he has cherished working with Ferrari although his stint with the “Maranello marque" will come to an end after the 2013 season.
“With Ferrari, it's always been good,” said the 32-year-old Brazilian during his meet and greet with local Formula One fans in Manila on Tuesday. “Work between the team, me the partners and everything. I think we did a fantastic job.”
Massa, who will be parting ways with Ferrari at the end of the 2013, said he was happy with his eight years with Ferrari.
“I'm happy for my career... I got more than I expected,” he said.
He made 184 starts for Ferrari, winning a total of 11 races including the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix and the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix.
In 2009, he got injured after crashing into a tire barrier during the qualifiers for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
He spent the rest of the 2009 season in recovery before returning to racing in 2010.
Following his fourth place finish in last week’s Italian Grand Prix, Massa announced that he will be no longer be racing for Ferrari in 2014 and that he is on the lookout for a new team.
The Brazilian is reportedly in negotiations with Lotus, in a bid to prolong his Formula One career.
“I want to win more races, more championships, I hope I get that opportunity in the future,” he said while addressing his Filipino fans.
“I'm happy for what I did.... But i want more, that's what I feel.”
