Orcollo bounces back in Galveston 8-ball

MANILA – Former World No. 1 Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo’s is on track in his bid at the on-going Galveston World Classic 8-ball competition with three successive wins at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Convention Center in Galveston, Texas.

Orcollo, who lost to Japanese Goh Takami in the fourth round, bounced back with a win over American Scott Frost.

He also eliminated compatriots Marlon “Marvelous” Manalo and Jose “Amang” Parica from the competition.

Billiards legend Francisco “Django” Bustamante, meanwhile, failed to progress to the next round after falling short against American Nick Varner.

Galveston 10-Ball
In the 10-Ball competition of the Galveston Classic, Efren “Bata” Reyes compiled a string of victories over Cliff Joyner, Sean Black, Glenn Atwell, Rafael Martinez, Neil Fujiwara and Brandon Shuff. This was after he lost his first round-match against Joey Korsiak.

Reyes, who had just pocketed $15,000 by winning the Galveston One Pocket division, will next be facing fellow Filipino Ramil “Bebeng” Gallego.

Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan is also making waves in the 10-ball competition by drubbing Raj Hundal and Corey Deuel.

The Galveston World Classic, which offers a total pot prize of $1 million, simultaneously held the One Pocket, 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, Mixed Scotch doubles, wheelchair 8-ball and the amateur competition. Marlon Bernardino
