MANILA, Philippines – National University's (NU) main man Bobby Ray Parks Jr. is expected to win his second straight UAAP Most Valuable Player award after leading the Bulldogs to the Final Four of the men's basketball tournament in Season 75.

The UAAP has yet to announce the recipients of its individual awards, but Parks is projected to repeat as MVP after another statistically dominant year wherein his Bulldogs also posted an improved win-loss record.

Parks last year became the first player to win the MVP despite not leading his team to the Final Four.

This season, he improved his all-around game and led the Bulldogs to a 9-5 slate, which was good enough to earn them the third seed. Parks averaged a league-leading 21.4 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per contest.

He scored 30 or more points six times this season, including a career-high 35 in a double-overtime loss against De La Salle.

Parks is expected to edge out Karim Abdul, the hardworking center of the University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers.

Abdul averaged a double-double of 16.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, to go along with 2.0 blocks per contest.

But Parks finished with a higher number of Statistical Points (SPs), which is the UAAP's basis for individual awards.

The formula for SPs considers a player's points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks total, while penalizing him for turnovers and unsportsmanlike fouls. A 15-point bonus is given for every won game.

After the elimination round, Parks finished with 77.28571 SPs, while Abdul finished with 76.21429.

A far third in the MVP race is Ateneo’s Greg Slaughter, who averaged 14.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while finishing with 67.28571 SPs.

Far Eastern University's Terrence Romeo averaged 18.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game to finish with 66.57143 SPs, while De La Salle's star rookie Jeron Teng normed 16.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to finish with 60.64286 SPs.

Slaughter, Romeo and Teng are projected to join Parks and Abdul in this season's Mythical Five.
