Amit picked to join Team Asia in Queen's Cup
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino cue artist Rubilen Amit has been selected to join Team Asia in the upcoming Queens Cup, which takes place at Resorts World on November 5-7.
Amit will be teaming up with Asia captain Ga Young Kim of South Korea as they go against powerhouse foursome including Austria's Jasmin Ouschan and UK's Kelly Fisher, Captain of Team West.
"I feel honored to be part of the elite team representing Asia. I am committing myself to doubling my efforts in practice to prepare for this," said Amit, the 2009 Women’s World 10-Ball champion.
Two more players on each team will be named in the upcoming weeks for the inaugural Queens Cup.
The East vs West ultimate team showdown is produced by Dragon Promotions.
The Queens Cup will showcase the rivalry between the Asians and their western counterparts in Europe and USA, much similar to the Ryder Cup in golf or Davis Cup in tennis.
The event will last three days in a 10-Ball format. The first team to chalk up 10 matches wins.
Style of play will include singles, doubles, triples, and 4-on-4. The captains will be put to the test to create the best strategy in partnerships and chemistry of match-ups. If the matches go 9 to 9, a final 4-on-4 play will conclude the competition.
